Validity and reliability of the instrument to determine factors that influence the nutritional status by excess in children from 5 to 9 years old

Abstract

The figures reported by the regents of public health in Ecuador and the world, in relation to overweight and obesity in children and adolescents, in recent years are worrying. Hence, excess intake affects the nutritional status of infants, becoming a social problem to take into account. Objective:To validate the 2019 JCLA school instrument through expert judgment, determining the factors associated with malnutrition due to excess in patients aged 5 to 9 years treated at the Babahoyo General Hospital. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional field investigation was carried out. To collect information using an instrument developed by the author to measure sociodemographic characteristics, nutritional assessment, family history of overweight and obesity. To record the information collected in an extended database of the SPSS statistical program in version 22. The results obtained will be presented in tables using numbers and percentages. Results: The samples taken from families related to lifestyle, have incidences in a diet low in nutrients 55.6% and lack of physical exercise, 66.7% of the samples taken, factors that lead to obesity and overweight for this population segment. Conclusions: Human beings are what they eat and the current lifestyle adopted by households affects their nutritional status. The consumption of foods low in nutrients, added to being sedentary, directly affect the quality of life, resulting in overweight and obesity from an early age
