Verbal objectivation of INSULARITY as the key concept of the British linguoculture.

Abstract

The article aims at investigating the nominative field of the key concept of the British linguoculture INSULARITY. In the course of investigation representations by means of language units have been analyzed. Semantic components of the notion INSULARITY and part of speech representation have been revealed. Conceptual field structure including the specification of the core and periphery has been modeled. At the linguo‐cognitive level the nominative means are systematized. Concept INSULARITY is verbalized by the part of speech productivity of the lexeme insular, etymologically related words, synonyms, associates, phraseological units and free collocations. Cognitive and semantic features of the nominative units in the course of the seme organization specification have been singled out, aimed at arrangement of the conceptual content, which includes: narrow‐minded, physically/ emotionally isolated, islander, localized on an island, relating to, forming an island. The key lexeme of the concept INSULARITY is an attribute insular which is a prioritized means of the content transmission. Concept is objectified as a substantive, adjective, verb and adverb. INSULARITY is a segment concept containing elements of a multilayered structure which includes a prototypical image of the object (person/ thing/ phenomenon) evaluated as insular and enclosed by object relating and ethic segments. Periphery is encompassed by the semantic components of the synonyms, associates, phraseological units, part of speech productivity of the key lexeme insular and attributive characteristics.
