Abstract
The meaning of karakalpak word “mother” has changed over the centuries in such a way that it reveals profound changes in the relations between people. It is known that dictionaries are the fixators of the most established and formalized definitions. It is interesting to trace the evolution of the concept “mother” by the analysis of definitions given in the dictionaries, in various lexicographic sources and other materials.
