Video game consumption practices among secondary school students

Journal Title: RHS-Revista Humanismo y Sociedad - Year 2023, Vol 11, Issue 2

Abstract

To establish the degree of correlation between the gender of the students and their video game consumption habits, a survey of closed items was applied to a sample of 330 students from the General Santander Educational Institution in the municipality of Soacha, Cundinamarca. Five survey questions related to video game consumption habits were analyzed and five research hypotheses were proposed, which were contrasted using the chi-square statistic. Pearson's correlation coefficients were also calculated for the variables under study. The correlational analysis regarding the gender of the students indicated that there is a relationship between this and the consumption habits of video games. In addition, a significant correlation between the variables studied was largely evidenced. It was concluded that adolescent men spend more time playing video games than women.
