Abstract

In the methodology of teaching foreign languages, there is a very large number of classifications of listening. The differences between these classifications are based on the fact that they are based on different criteria for distinguishing the types of listening. Students should learn how to independently choose a strategy for perceiving the text, depending on the communicative intention/communicative task and the features of the audio text. It is also important that in the structure of skills and abilities that ensure the possession of different types of listening, along with specific skills and abilities, there are skills and abilities common to all kinds. Therefore, it is necessary to teach students to transfer skills from one type of listening to another/others. The article provides sufficient information about types of listening.
