Virtual Observation System for Earth System Model: An Application to ACME Land Model Simulations
Journal Title: International Journal of Advanced Computer Science & Applications - Year 2017, Vol 8, Issue 2
Abstract
Investigating and evaluating physical-chemical-biological processes within an Earth system model (EMS) can be very challenging due to the complexity of both model design and software implementation. A virtual observation system (VOS) is presented to enable interactive observation of these processes during system simulation. Based on advance computing technologies, such as compiler-based software analysis, automatic code instrumentation, and high-performance data transport, the VOS provides run-time observation capability, in-situ data analytics for Earth system model simulation, model behavior adjustment opportunities through simulation steering. A VOS for a terrestrial land model simulation within the Accelerated Climate Modeling for Energy model is also presented to demonstrate the implementation details and system innovations.

Color Image Segmentation via Improved K-Means Algorithm
Data clustering techniques are often used to segment the real world images. Unsupervised image segmentation algorithms that are based on the clustering suffer from random initialization. There is a need for efficient and...
Nonlinear Model Predictive Control for pH Neutralization Process based on SOMA Algorithm
In this work, the pH neutralization process is described by a neural network Wiener (NNW) model. A nonlinear Model Predictive Control (NMPC) is established for the considered process. The main difficulty that can be enco...
Deep Learning Approaches for Data Augmentation and Classification of Breast Masses using Ultrasound Images
Breast classification and detection using ultrasound imaging is considered a significant step in computer-aided diagno-sis systems. Over the previous decades, researchers have proved the opportunities to automate the ini...
A Framework to Automate Cloud based Service Attacks Detection and Prevention
With the increasing demand for high availability, scalability and cost minimization, the adaptation of cloud computing is also increasing. By the demand from the data, consumer or the customers of the applications, the s...
Evaluating Damage Potential in Security Risk Scoring Models
A Continuous Monitoring System (CMS) model is presented, having new improved capabilities. The system is based on the actual real-time configuration of the system. Existing risk scoring models assume damage potential is...
