Web based foundry knowledge base
Journal Title: Archiwum Odlewnictwa - Year 2009, Vol 9, Issue 1
Abstract
The main assumptions and functions of proposed Foundry Knowledge Base (FKB) are presented in this paper. FKB is a framework for information exchange of casting products and manufacturing methods. We use CMS (Content Management System) to develope and maintain our web-based system. The CastML – XML dialect developed by authors for description of casting products and processes – is used as a tool for information interchange between ours and outside systems, while SQL is used to store and edit knowledge rules and also to solve the basic selection problems in the rule-based module. Besides the standard functions (companies data, news, events, forums and media kit), our website contains a number of nonstandard functions; the intelligent search module based on expert system is the main advantage of our solution. FKB is to be a social portal which content will be developed by foundry community.

Bainitic-martensitic nodular cast iron with carbides
In this paper the possibility obtaining of upper bainite, lower bainite and martensite or their mixture in nodular cast iron with carbides has been presented. Conditions have been given, when in nodular cast iron with ca...
Characteristic of intermetallic phases in cast dental CoCrMo alloy
Apart from chromium and molybdenum, casting alloys of cobalt usually contain also up to 0.35 % of carbon. With significant content of carbon, presence of carbide-forming alloying elements results in creating carbide phas...
Analysis of power demand signal in laboratory rotary mixer
The paper summarises the power measurement data for the main assemblies in a prototype turbine mixers for laboratory applications. Of particular interest are power demand signals in the paddle stirrer and the rotor. Test...
Influence of the heat treatment on the microstructure and properties of austenitic cast steel
Exploitation investigations of a centrifugally cast pipe of austenitic cast steel indicated a significant influence of its microstructure on functional properties. Determination of the possibility of forming the microstr...
Replies to Challenges in the Field of Air Pollution Control in Foundry Plants
The solution of applications for air pollution control in foundries for iron and non-ferrous metals may not only be understood as the observance of requested emission limit values at the stack outlet. An effective enviro...
