What problems should be tackled in the education of pregnant women concerning delivery not burdened with pathology?

Abstract
introduction. The birth of a baby is an important event in the history of each family, evoking many positive emotions, but also fear of delivery. Women count on properly prepared staff guiding them through this most important event in their life, and covering them with attentive and professional care. Therefore, educational activity carried our by health care professionals is a very important element in the care of a pregnant woman and a woman in labour. objective. The objective of this study is to present the level of pregnant women’s knowledge concerning the basic problems in the area of physiological delivery. material and methods. Studies were conducted in the Lublin Region among 110 pregnant women, and of this number, 91 who correctly completed questionnaires were qualified for computer analysis. The research method applied was a diagnostic survey, and the instrument – a questionnaire designed by the author. The collected information was subjected to statistical analysis. results. Analysis of the 91 questionnaires collected among the pregnant women who qualified for the study, showed that the state of knowledge concerning delivery not burdened with pathology is good; however, there are issues which should be continuously undertaken for the constant improvement of pregnant women’s knowledge. conclusions. One of the important tasks of midwives is the education of a woman preparing for childbirth, and they should devote to this task the largest amount of time in their occupational practice. Qualified medical staff should be the major source of obtaining knowledge concerning pregnancy and delivery. It is important to promote the occupational role of midwives as qualified medical staff, their scope of competence including care of a woman in the course of physiological delivery.
