Why do we need to think twice before prescribing Fluoroquinolones?
Journal Title: JOURNAL OF MEDICAL COLLEGE CHANDIGARH - Year 2019, Vol 9, Issue 1
Abstract
Fluoroquinolones have been associated with a number of serious and disabling side effects. Tendinopathy, tendon rupture, neuropathy and some of the mental health side effects are known to us for the last few years. Recently, FDA has issued warnings against lowering of blood sugar and more prominent mental health effects including attention deficit, loss of orientation, aggression, impairment of memory and even delirium. Therefore, these drugs must be prescribed judiciously and cautiously.
