Abstract

Wiktor Gomulicki: Still Unknown. Review of: Wiktor Gomulicki: Known and Unknown, edited by Bogdan Burdziej and Andrzej Stoff, Toruń 2012 The paper is a review of the collaborative publication entitled Wiktor Gomulicki: Known and Unknown, edited by Bogdan Burdziej and Andrzej Stoff (Toruń 2012), and consisting of fifteen essays on the writings of Wiktor Gomulicki. Their authors endeavour to restore the writer and poet to his deserved position in the history of Polish literature. The volume comprises studies that propose interesting interpretations of several, for the most part relatively little-known, works by this nineteenth-century poet and novelist. Significantly, they all depart from analysing the urban imagery present in Fantazy’s poems, which has always formed an indispensable element of the critical reception of his verse. Thanks to this, the collection opens new vistas for the interpretation of Gomulicki’s poetry.
