Abstract
The article discusses the consequences of stress and educational possibilities of prevention as well as the role of a commander and social awareness. Basic way leading to effective elimination of negative effects of long-lasting functioning in stress-inducing environment is above all the knowledge of how a human functions in the environment of increased danger, how the human organism reacts to stress-inducing factors and what stressors awaits a human in a military mission environment. The awareness of trauma consequences and destructive methods of coping with stress is also important. Thus, in the system of preventing negative instances of combat stress it becomes crucial to expand the duty of having a basic knowledge on the subject, not only by the affected person himself, but also by the closest surroundings of a soldier exposed to factors causing combat stress or the post-traumatic stress disorder.
