Abstract
The new combat environment requires, in a certain degree, a different approach to command and control from the ones practiced so far. In centric network operations, the current cascade system of planning and issuing orders may result in delay and confusion. The possibility to deliver necessary information on time to all levels of command, the lowest ones, will result in gaining advantage the enemy in a given area. The article reflects the author’s views concerning the necessity of aerial reconnaissance automation in land forces in new conditions. The presented analyses, assessments and comparisons show that aerial reconnaissance in war and crisis operations is the most flexible measure performing imagery intelligence (IMINT). The author places and defines IMINT’s role in the reconnaissance system and suggests its new tasks.
