Youth tourist trips - objectives and ways of splendid free time: comparative analysis 2002-2007

Abstract
Tourist trips are one of the most attractive opportunities for juveniles to spend their free time. They are a perfect occasion to gain some practical knowledge, improve skills and shaping one's own important character features. They also stimulate and develop interests, which seems to be a motive for development of youths' characters. The effect mentioned above mainly depends on the type of activities provided by the trips. In the article we have tried to analyse the trends and changes in youth activity during long- term tourist camps in the years of 2002-2007. To diagnose the problem we employed researches drawn up by Tourist Institute in Warsaw. The analysis indicates that, day by day, an increasing number of young people are choosing an active way of spending free time to improve their health and physical fitness while on tourist trips. However, the above does not refer to the professional tourism which is observed to be continuously decreasing. A slight positive tendency could be noticed in the ski sector, which is becoming a popular recreation form. More and more young people wish to broaden their horizons and to acquire new skills by different kinds of tourist trips.
