Abstract
Source materials for the history of Eastern Church in Poland in archives and libraries of St. Petersburg. Manuscripts from Russian, Belorussian and Ukrainian archives and libraries are of paramount importance for research of Eastern Church history in Poland. Sources deserving particular attention are those preserved in the Archive of Saint-Petersburg Institute of History of Russian Academy of Sciences (Архив Санкт-Петербургского института истории Российскoй Академии Наук в Санкт-Петербурге), in Russian State Historical Archive in St Petersburg (Российский государственный историчесий архив) and in Manuscripts Section of the former Saltykov-Shchedrin State Public Library in St. Petersburg, currently National Library of Russia in St. Petersburg. A good example of abundance of source materials for history of the Church is Pavel Dobrokhotov’s Collection (col. 52) from Archive of Saint-Petersburg Institute of History of Russian Academy of Sciences. It includes documents from archives of Orthodox and Uniate dioceses, royal privileges granted to Orthodox hierarchy, endowment documents of Orthodox churches and monasteries, lists of parishes, visitations of monasteries, lists of cases of Uniate churches, administrative and court files of individual parishes and monasteries. Among the materials, there is polemic and hagiographic literature, historical studies of individual monasteries, books of miracles occurring in front of Mother of God icons, even literary and political texts.
