1,2-Diazole prevents cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in experimental rats.
Journal Title: Pharmacological Reports - Year 2013, Vol 65, Issue 4
Abstract
Cisplatin (a platinum-compound) is a anti-neoplastic drug used in the treatment of various cancers but eventually results in severe adverse effects namely nephrotoxicity or renal disorder through generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). This biochemical measurements and histopathology analysis investigated a possible protective effect of 1,2-diazole with regards to cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in experimental animals.

Central effects of nafadotride, a dopamine D(3) receptor antagonist, in rats. Comparison with haloperidol and clozapine.
The aim of this study was to examine behavioral and biochemical effects of nafadotride, the new dopamine D(3) receptor antagonist, and to compare it with haloperidol (dopamine D(2) receptor antagonist) and clozapine (pre...
Antioxidant agents and physiological responses in adult epileptic patients treated with lamotrigine.
Background: The aim of our research was to evaluate some biochemical changes in blood during lamotrigine (LTG) monotherapy of adult patients with epilepsy, and to check possible associations between typical selenium stat...
Transcellular biosynthesis of eicosanoids.
The metabolism of arachidonic acid into biologically active compounds involves the sequential activity of a number of enzymes, sometimes showing a unique expression profile in different cells. The main metabolic pathways...
Endothelial mitochondria as a possible target for potassium channel modulators
Variety of ion channels is present in plasma membrane of endothelial cells. These include the potassium channels such as Ca(2+)-activated K(+) channels, inwardly rectifying K(+) channels, voltage-dependent K(+) channels...
Biotechnology and genetic engineering in the new drug development. Part I. DNA technology and recombinant proteins.
Pharmaceutical biotechnology has a long tradition and is rooted in the last century, first exemplified by penicillin and streptomycin as low molecular weight biosynthetic compounds. Today, pharmaceutical biotechnology st...
