Journal Title: IJSR-International Journal Of Scientific Research - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 11
Abstract
To determine the clinical profile and outcome in cases of lens-induced glaucoma (LIG).A retrospective analysis of 31 cases with LIG was evaluated over a period of one year at a rural tertiary care hospital. The cases ranged from 51 years to 80 years with female (61.3%) preponderance. The phacopmorphic glaucoma 17(54.8%) cases were more common than phacolytic glaucoma 14 (45.2%) cases. Eighteen (58.1%) cases underwent small incision cataract surgery with PC IOL implantation and 05 (16.1%) cases had combined surgery. At discharge, 17 (54.8%) had best corrected visual acuity 6/6-6/12. The correlation between postoperative visual outcome and age above 70 years, duration of symptoms more than a week and IOP more than 40 mm of Hg were clinically and statistically significant. There is great need for the awareness among rural elderly people about the importance of timely surgery of cataract for better visual outcome in this condition.
