A comparative analysis of export support systems of Poland and the UK

Journal Title: Debiuty Naukowe Studentów Wyższej Szkoły Bankowej - Year 2015, Vol 15, Issue

Abstract

The process of internationalization is the result of a company’s planned and carried out actions, determined by the attractiveness of foreign markets and by the resources that company holds. In many cases, for this process to be completed successfully, the entrepreneur will need some help from the government. Whether, and to what extent, one could receive it, would have a major impact on his “to be or not to be” on foreign markets. This article shows the scope of support that entrepreneurs are being offered through the example of a comparison of the Polish and British export support systems. It indicates strengths and weaknesses of each of these systems, as well as, recommends actions that could possibly affect the improvement of each of them. Focusing on issues such as the promotion of support offered under a variety of tools, a rapid response to the changing needs of exporters (both beginners and experienced players), the continuous improvement of the quality of service, and flexibility in actions, should be the main priorities that governments take into account when formulating export support programs.
