A CONCEPTIONAL EVALUATION OF STRESS FACTORS AFFECTING THE BUSINESS LIFE OF SOCIAL WORKERS AND STRESS MANAGEMENT INTERVENTION PROGRAMS

Abstract
Job stress creates negative results both for employees and organizations. Social work, a sub-domain of human services, is considered among the most stressful job groups. However, social workers play a key role in building a healthy society. Therefore, it is deemed a necessity to define both individual and organizational results of stress factors affecting the business life of social workers. In this digest, first, the concept of job stress and then, the role ambiguity, role conflict, role overload and work overload are defined and most frequent and common workplace stressors affecting social workers are categorized based on empirical and theoretical findings on these topics and certain stress management intervention programs for social workers are explained in detail.
