A contribuição da terminologia na construção de linguagens documentárias como os tesauros

Abstract
This paper presents an overview on the contribution of terminology in the construction of alphabetical documentary language. Aimed at the information representation and retrieval, the study is focused on thesaurus as a documentary language. Thesauruses are seen as documentary languages generally about a specific knowledge domain, organized according to the conceptual net of a specific area. The importance of terminology on the thesaurus elaboration and its updating is highlighted. In conclusion, a thesaurus is shown to allow the information description more appropriate and consistent with the user’s language, allowing a more accurate and relevant information retrieval.
