Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2015, Vol 8, Issue 36
Abstract
Sabahattin Kudret Aksal (1923-1993) is known as one of the significant poets of Turkish literature with his simple, philosophic and profound poetics. He also has 9 plays in which he tries to analyze the relationships in family, in love and power. In these plays which he reflect personal frailties and searching of authenticity with refined observations from everyday life, he could succeed to create an astonishing fictive world through his poetic word-playing capability. In the first four plays of Aksal, place is always a house. These plays basically question the institution of family. After Kahvede Şenlik Var (There’s a Carnival in the Cafe) surrealistic narration is remarkable. Besides, these plays are more symbolic and poetic. Writer stops to tell the family in the house and begins to focus on the human’s conflict with himself. In this article, the plays of Aksal were analyzed periodically and thematic and formal changes were tried to be determined.
