LUGAZ (THE CONUNDRUM) AS A METHOD OF EXPRESSION AT ISLAMIC JURISPRUDENCE
Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 42
Abstract
Scholars of Islam have developed many methods of research and presenting the results thereof. One of those is the lugaz (conundrum) method of fiqh. Among all its types, we can describe them as riddles in a general sense. Conundrums (lugaz) have become widespread as a type of copyright in fiqh literature after the 4th century after Hijra. In time, these conundrums, which are generally a way of asking a matter of fiqh by means of a riddle, have become voluminous enough to contain all of the topics of a work of fiqh. It is possible to say that hypothetical fiqh has had a great role to play in this. Fiqh-related conundrums have not seen wide acceptance by some scholars partly due to taking on fairly delicate matters that have not yet come to pass, partly due to the fact that they show fiqh in a light that jeopardizes its dignity.
