Journal Title: MANAGERIAL CHALLENGES OF THE CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 1
Abstract
In the present paper, we propose to make a global analysis of agriculture labor force during the period 1960-2011. Agriculture is a key sector for generating employment opportunities and labor force in this sector is one of the three fundamental resources that most decisively influence production output. The analysis will take into account the data concerning agricultural population, total population, the economically active population, active agricultural population. Even if agriculture has played a dominant role in the economy the data show that the share of the population working in agriculture is declining in every part of the world. Also, the paper analyses how agriculture’s workforce has changed over the last fifty years and the causes of decreasing employment. We analyze the changes both globally and on each continent, including Romania.
