A HIGH PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHIC ASSAY FOR NICORANDIL IN BULK DRUG AND ITS PHARMACEUTICAL DOSAGE FORMS

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Pharmacy (IRJP) - Year 2011, Vol 2, Issue 4

Abstract

A simple, rapid and reproducible high performance reverse phase liquid chromatographic method has been developed for quantitative estimation of Nicorandil in rotacap using a, C18 column and UV detection at 254nm. The isocratic elution was used to quantify the analyte. The samples were chromatographed on C-18 column and the mobile phase was 0.1% formic acid: Acetonitrile (50:50 v/v) was pumped at 1 mL/min. The method was linear between 60- 360 mg/mL, statistically validated for its linearity, precision and accuracy. The intra-and - inter day variation was found to be less than 1% showing high precision of the assay method. It was found that the excipients in the commercial tablet did not interfere with the method.
