A historical survey of treatments for nasal polyps. The polish physicians against this rhinological problem – part II
Journal Title: Polski Przegląd Otorynolaryngologiczny - Year 2012, Vol 1, Issue 2
Abstract
A removal of nasal polyps by noose was a method applicable widely repeatedly without considerable complications. The different methods with application of noose such as Desault’s method, Dubois’s method, Levret’s method were presented with full particulars. The introduction of galvanocautery noose by Albrecht Theodor Middeldorph, used afterwards by Victor von Bruns, Ferdinand Eduard Rudolph Voltolini, Antoni Bryk, Antoni Jurasz sen, Teodor Heryng and others was a more effective method. Electrolysis was a worse method than galvanocautery. Others more radical surgical methods of removal nasal polyps proposed by Ludwik Rydygier such as Mann’s method, Langenbeck’s method, Ollier’s method, Chassaignac-Bruns’s method, Wutzer’s method were presented widely.
