A model of organization entrepreneurial growth: The construct and its dimensions
Journal Title: International Journal of Contemporary Management - Year 2011, Vol 10, Issue 3
Abstract
Organization entrepreneurial growth is crucial for wealth creation, and remains an exception, rather than a standard. Thus, understaind the processes underlying it is an important theoretical and practical issue to explore. This article is an attempt to present a radical reflec-tive approach to the organization entrepreneurial growth. Due to the lack of empirical research on organization entrepreneurial growth, the phenomenon is characterized by unde-fined theoretical content and blurred frontiers. The article provides a theoretical treatment of strategic dynamics that integrates six di-mensions of organization entrepreneurial growth. I argue that they are key ingredients, which warranted scholarly attention and frequently neglected in the mainstream literature. These include: (1) dialectical contradictions and growth challenges, (2) resources and capabilities, (3) organizational learning and organizational improvisation, (4) entrepreneurial orientation, (5) entrepreneurial activity, (6) organizational outcomes. The concept of organization entrepreneurial growth is important for contemporary debate on the nature of magagement research, because it emphasiezes creating novelty and breaking continuity, and thus questions common assumptions.
