A NEW APPROACH IN TRANSLATION STUDIES: THEORY OF SYMBOLIC FORMS
Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 43
Abstract
In today’s world, translation is regarded as an intercultural interaction and this creates a consensus suggesting that translation helps cultures interact with each other. The translators helping cultures to interact, the symbolic values of these cultures and the transmission of the values via translation in the target society are not a simply identifiable issue. The new scope of the translation education, as well as translation theories, require a new approach, which may well comprehend and thoroughly investigate these symbolic forms, and also take the interpretation of these symbols into consideration in the target culture. To enhance the social effects of translations, a completely new approach that interprets and criticises social values and symbols is needed. The impact of this may distinctively contribute especially to children’s and young adult’s literature, society’s education, and its upbringing.
