A New Glance at Holy Qur’an’s Messages

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2012, Vol 3, Issue 12

Abstract

When we receive a message from outer sources, we will have to evaluate it in order to be able to accept it. We apply some principles for this purpose, known as “message analysis principles” in communications science. Qur’an is a collection of divine messages to humans, which can be evaluated. Historically, there have been some principles to evaluate them, namely “interpretation basics” which consist of some tools made available to Qur’an in order to make its messages easier to understand. In addition to the introductory Science of Qur’anic Tafsir (interpretation), there are other sciences as tools for understanding and evaluating its messages which help the evaluator have a better understanding of these messages. Communications science and social psychology are two sciences which serve Qur’an as tools to help towards a better understanding of this Holy book. These sciences employ some principles for message analysis which include: message purposes, background and context, persuaders and their executive structures, target audience, impression-making techniques, and audience response. This article looks at Qur’an from this point of view, trying to find and represent the above-mentioned principles in its messages.
