A new Method for microaneurysm detection in non-dilated diabetic retinopathy retinal images

Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2017, Vol 11, Issue 2

Abstract

The Miroaneurym (MA) detection is one of the significant steps in the procedure of diabetic retinopathy (DR) detection using computer. The Miroaneurym is the primary clinical symptom of the DR and one of the fundamental reasons of vision miss in diabetic patients. Early MA discovery can aid to reduce blindness. The Automatic MA detection is investigating with considering small size, low contrast and also the similarity with blood vessels. In this paper, morphological mathematic and neural network are used to extract MA candidate regions and to classify MA in order to detect Microaneurysm in non-dilated pupils, respectively. For each candidate regions ‘pixel, 18 features are defined to input neural network as classifier. The proposed method is applied on 12 non-dilated pupils. The simulated results have been explained in section 3.
