A Novel Approach of FLAOA/AHRS-Based Three-Dimensional Positioning and Heading Determination

Abstract

The existing indoor positioning system has the positioning error of several meters in two dimensions, but it has a disadvantage that it is difficult to acquire the attitude of a moving object. For indoor environment, magnetometer is prone to interference. Using the FLAOA (Forward-Link Angle of Arrival) measurements, the position and orientation of the moving object can be estimated from the array antennas placed on the moving object. However, due to the non-linearity of the measurements, solving equations becomes complicated. In this paper, it is shown to convert three-dimensional FLAOA measurements to two-dimensional FLAOA measurements using the FLAOA (Forward Link AOA) measurements and the roll and pitch angles from the AHRS (Attitude Heading Reference System) and it was verified by simulation.
