A Prospective Study of Trans Inguinal Pre Peritoneal (TIPP) Hernioplasty: An Early Experience of 30 Consecutive Cases

Abstract
Inguinal hernia still remains a significant clinical problem since the original description of hernia repair by Bassini in 1889. The Lichtenstein procedure is the current reference technique for inguinal hernia treatment. Chronic pain has become the main postoperative complication after inguinal hernia repair. The Lichtenstein procedure is the current reference technique for inguinal hernia treatment. In laparoscopic surgery this is performed in General anaesthesia and learning curve is long. In this prospective study of 30 patients of inguinal hernia were operated under spinal anesthesia and prolene mess was placed in pre-peritoneal space posterior to inferior epigastric vessel through trans-inguinal approach. All patients were followed for at least three years. No recurrence and seroma formation was found in any patients. Most patients had only mild pain. Mean operative time was 65 minutes
