A Reflection of Iranian Customs and Ceremonies in Beihaqi History (Tarikhe Beihaqi)

Abstract

Iran's customs and ceremonies are a mirror of other nations' culture. Undoubtedly, Iran's rich culture is full of customs and ceremonies which reflect the opinions, ideas, thoughts and culture of Iran's society. Some of these customs and ceremonies are originated in the history of this culture and their origin refers to centuries ago. These kinds of customs are such penetrated in Iran's culture that the works of some famous scholar are not unaffected by their influence. Abolfazl Beihaqi, the clerk of the epistles in Gaznavi's court, is one of the authors who has mentioned these customs and ceremonies in his own book. In this article, the attempt is to determine some of the customs that are mentioned in every part of Beihaqi History (Tarikhe Beihaqi) by reviewing this book and to show the rich influence of Iran's culture on other nations and cultures by reviewing some Iranian ceremonies that used to be held in Gaznavi court, a dynasty of Turk descent.
