A Research on Exterıor Decoratıons of Safranbolu Houses “House of Muderrisler”

Abstract
It has developed over the centuries, and in today's age, the modern house type model has been formed and the natural need for shelter of human beings has been met. The cultural characteristics of the society we have lived in for thousands of years have been reflected in the residential architecture and the traditional Turkish house model has been formed. The architectural qualities of traditional Turkish houses have emerged with the cultural accumulation that has continued throughout history, with the effect of geographical and climatic features, as well as factors such as the economic conditions, belief and lifestyle of the region. The traditional Turkish House model has been formed by the combination of these elements in the historical process. One of these house models is the traditional Safranbolu houses. Sections such as walls and ceilings that make up the traditional house model are completed with decorations. The decorations on the exterior of the Müderrisler Evi in Safranbolu, which has no other example in Anatolia; It has a rich cultural heritage feature with objects and geometric shapes in nature and herbal signs that remind us to better perceive world life. With this study, the cultural meaning and importance of the exterior decorations of the Müderrisler House have been tried to be explained. In this context, with the literature review, traditional architectural decorations in Turkish Culture were researched and information was given about the decorations with the exterior photographs of the Müderrisler House. It is thought that this research, which has been carried out as a basis, will contribute to the revival of traditional decorations in today's architecture and designs, to contribute to Safranbolu tourism and to transfer the importance of the exterior decorations of the Müderrisler House to future generations.
