A Review of Machining Characteristics in Mechanical Drilling of Super Alloys
Journal Title: International Journal of Mechanical and Production Engineering Research and Development (IJMPERD ) - Year 2018, Vol 8, Issue 1
Abstract
Super alloys are extensively used in the field of aerospace to manufacture aircraft engine components such as casings, rings, seals, fasteners, turbine blades, vanes, discs, shafts, combustors and general engine hardware. Drilling is a very important process that is mainly used to make a hole in the aircraft engine components. The quality of the drilled whole characteristics is of prime importance in the development of aero-engine components. This study reviews the machiniability of drilling of super alloys during drilling through various aspects such as cutting environment, tool materials and geometry, drilling parameters and their influences on surface roughness, cutting force, tool wear, temperature, surface integrity, and chip morphology. The results indicated that very few studies have been made on the machinability of super alloys during drilling with respect to surface integrity. Further, there is a need to create a multi response optimization in the drilling of super alloys to obtain optimum results of surface integrity, thrust force, temperature, tool wear, surface roughness, and chip morphology

An Analysis of Permanent Magnet Eddy Current Braking System
In the operation of any machinery the most primary safety system is the braking system. The most basic designs of the braking system involve the conversion of kinetic energy to heat energy by friction. This is accomplish...
AERODYNAMIC AND THERMAL DESIGN OF CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSOR FOR SMALL SCALE IN NON-DIMEMSIONAL FORM
In the present study, a 3D numerical simulation of a non-dimensional design of impeller, diffuser and volute design of centrifugal compressor in dimensional form is carried out by using the commercial code of ANSYS R15.0...
An Analysis of the Quality Award Model by AHP
This paper is proposed as a model for ranking of fields, criteria and sub-criteria in the quality award model. It is based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The AHPis used to find the criteria’s weigh...
AN ANALYSIS OF COMPOSITE DRIVE SHAFT USING ANSYS ACP
Almost all automobiles (at least those which correspond to design with a rear wheel drive and front engine installation) have transmission shafts. The weight reduction of the drive shaft can have a certain role in the ge...
EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON STIR CAST ALUMINIUM WITH ALUMINIUM OXIDE POWDERS
Aluminium MMC’s are chosen over other conventional materials in aeronautics, automobiles and in oceanic areas because of their enhanced abilities such as high strength to weight ratio, stiffness, corrosion resisting natu...
