A "SMARTGRIDS-ASSISTANT" FOR POWER GRID OPERATION AND TRAINING
Journal Title: ANALELE UNIVERSITATII DIN CRAIOVA - Seria Inginerie electrica - Year 2010, Vol 34, Issue 34
Abstract
SmartGrids are understood as cell-wise structured, intelligent supply areas with own, distributed and renewable generators and storages. The actual intelligence is the IT-supported structure and control, especially to match fluctuating generation and load. Since there are typically a large number of options, this will not happen completely automatically. With the integration of the new components, the distribution system operators and their personnel face new tasks. The scope of operational grid control is extended with the management of fluctuating generators, loads and storage units. Possibly, the legal framework will be reason to establish new structures for the control center staff to perform the new activities beyond the regulated DSO. The individual generation situation and the transports have to be managed, the voltage to be stabilized and the grid components to be dispatched. The authors in cooperation with the German power supplier HEAG Südhessische Energie AG (HSE) are developing the electronic SmartGrids-Assistant (SGA) as an EMS function of the SCADA system. It cyclically submits proposals to the control center staff how to dispatch the grid’s components and resources optimally. The SGA will be used for operational training at first to prepare the staff for the new tasks and then serve as an online decision assistant for Smart Grid component operation.

Diagnosis with Analytic Model of a Rectifier for Faults of the Rectifier Control
The diagnosis of the electric systems is an actual item for the specialists in domain. Due to the variety of the measurements and multiplicity of faults which can be analyzed, the approach is motivating. The model reprod...
POWER FACTOR AUTOMATIC COMPENSATION WITHIN 20/6KV ELECTRICAL TRANSFORMATION STATIONS
The addition of the compensation of the power factor is one technical measure to improve the functioning of the electrical installations. Because the loads of the electrical installations show fluctuations in 24 hours an...
A MODIFIED PETRI NET FRAMEWORK FOR HYBRID SYSTEM MODELING
In order to achieve the framework for analysis of hybrid dynamic systems, different approaches of modeling are used and at present is already an abundance of such paradigms, including Petri Nets. Often, the continuous dy...
DC-Traction Substation with Improved Power Quality and Regeneration Capability
In the DC-traction substations, the diode rectifi-ers are commonly used to provide the needed DC-voltage for vehicles. Unfortunately, they attract important issues of power quality, of which the most significant is the i...
