Journal Title: Denizcilik Fakültesi Dergisi - Year 2019, Vol 11, Issue 1
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the working conditions and activities of boatyard facilities in Manavgat region. For this aim, owners of five facilities or their employees were interviewed, and their activities were recorded. During the study, it was determined that there are seven boatyard facilities in Manavgat. Five of them are located on the banks of the Manavgat River and two of them are located in the Manavgat Industry Site. In 2014 and 2015, the construction of new boats, as well as maintenance-repair of a large number of tour boats and modification of the fishing boats were conducted by the boatyards in Manavgat. Results of the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses Opportunities, Threats) analysis showed that their geographically location was very strong and they were of vital importance for tour boats. Their weaknesses are that they do not have a field and indoor space and they are not organized. While increasing trend in allocating more time and budget for vacation and recreation by people is a great opportunity, the most important threat is that they will evacuate their current location until 2020.
