A Study on the Efficacy of Ketamine Given Intrathecallyas A Spinal Anesthetic Agent
Journal Title: Indian Journal of Anesthesia and Analgesia - Year 2017, Vol 4, Issue 1
Abstract
Ketamine a phencyclidine derivative with potent analgesic properties possesses few advantages over the other local anesthetics as it tends to stimulate the cardiovascular system and maintains the respiratory response to carbon dioxide. Methodology: On the eve of the surgery, all the patients were visited and a detailed examination including history, clinical examination, systemic examination of cardiovascular, respiratory and central nervous system and examination of spine for deformity, infection was carried out. Results: In the present study, the time taken to achieve maximum sensory blockade ranged from 28 minutes. In majority of the males (43 patients) it ranged from 46, while in females (26 patients) it ranged from 5.17 minutes. Conclusion: In the present study, the quality of motor blockade assessed by the Bromage scale was gradeIII in all the patients.

A Comparative Study of the Effect of Clonidine and Tramadol on Post- Spinal Anaesthesia Shivering during Intraoperative Period
Introduction: Region anaesthesia is widely used and a safe anaesthetic technique. Shivering is frequently a known complication during regional anaesthesia. Shivering is a potentially serious complication. There are vario...
Comparison of Dexmedetomidine and Propofol on Haemodynamics, Ionic Balance and Postop Sedation in Brachial Plexus Repair Surgery: An Entropy Guided Prospective Trial
Context: Propofol is the commonly used intravenous drug to maintain adequate depth of anaesthesia in brachial plexus repair surgery under general anaesthesia without muscle relaxant. It has rapid onset of action, a...
Comparision of High Dose Rocuronium with Succinylcholine for Intubation
Context: Succinylcholine has extremely rapid onset of action and its shorter duration of action make it the ideal muscle relaxant for rapid sequence intubation. Because of these adverse effects and risks associated with...
Comparison Between Interscalene Block using 0.5% Ropivacaine with Low dose Dexmedetomidine and using 0.5% Ropivacaine Alone in Upper Arm Surgeries: An Observational Study
Background: Interscalene brachial plexuses block is one of the delicately done widely used blocks for upper humerus and shoulder surgeries. Ropivacaine, a newer Local Anaesthetic (LA), has been increasingly used nowadays...
