A Study on the Efficacy of Non-Contractual Protection Procedures of Human Rights: 5/1 Procedure in the Context of Eritre Country Case

Abstract
The protection of human rights at the United Nations level is categorically based on two basic mechanisms including contractual procedures and non-contractual procedures. The basis of the Non-Contractual Protection System is the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Charter itself. The NonContractual Procedures include special procedures, 1235 procedure, 1503 procedure and 5/1 procedure. In this study, the effectiveness of the 1503 method and its developed form, the 5/1 method, is evaluated comparatively through the Eritrean example by taking regional protection systems into consideration.
