A Survey of Knowledge and Beliefs about Antimicrobials use among Prescribers in a Teaching Tertiary Care Hospital
Journal Title: Journal of Medical Science And clinical Research - Year 2018, Vol 6, Issue 3
Abstract
Misconceptions and lack of basic knowledge about the use of antimicrobial agents (AMAs) use seems to be an important aspect in their prescribing in both developed and developing countries.[1] The lack of appropriate knowledge in this direction has contributed to the development of antimicrobial resistance. This has become a worldwide public health problem leading to serious hospital and community acquired infections. Moreover, the emergence of multidrug resistant bacteria are casting a negative impact on treatment outcomes such as prolonged morbidity, hospital stay and increased risk of mortality
