A Survey on Causes and Obstacles to Providing of Drinking Water in the Between Cities Restaurants in Kermanshah Province (2011-2012)

Abstract

Providing of Drinking water in the places that are in the between ways is one of the major health problems in these places. The purpose of this study is assessment of causes and barriers to providing healthy water in places that are between Kermanshah province and other places in order to improve the health status in field of environmental health. The method is cross - sectional study, first, all places that were between Kermanshah province and other places were identified, including 74 locations. Researchers were able to review the 48 locations. Data collection facility was a questionnaire. After data collection, the final results were presented in the form of description tables and graphs. Data were analyzed by SPSS and Excel software. Results showed that the answers of 77.5 % managers or operators of those places, questioned about awareness regarding the importance of healthy water were correct and 22.5% gave the wrong answer. %97.9 of managers or operators stated that the monitoring of health authority to the places is once every month. Only 35.4% noted that they had the Water Chlorinator. 75% of managers or operators tend to have financial participation to be shared in providing safe water supply network. The source of water supply was wells (70.8%), springs (27.1%) and other sources, such as storage tanks (2.1). Only 85.4% of the wells and springs had been improved in point of view sanitation. Based on biological tests and measure the water residual chlorine in these places, in 33.3% of samples the microbial quality, were considered undesirable and chlorine residual of 60.4% of samples were unsatisfactory. Supply of healthy water should be considered through increasing awareness and attitude of places operators. Managers and operators should be encouraged to participate in a water supply network such as chlorinator with Urban and Rural Water and Wastewater Company.
