Journal Title: Elysium Journal of Engineering Research and Management - Year 2015, Vol 2, Issue 5

Abstract

In recent years, unified communication is becoming a critical part in enterprise communication. Voice, messaging, conferencing, presence and availability, and directories have all become fundamental requirements of an enterprise network. Unfortunately, these elements lack the ability to effectively intercommunicate. The term “unified communications” is created by the communications industry that indicates the wide ranging combination of various communication networks for reduced costs and increased revenue. The benefits of Unified communication are to compensate the investment significantly. This paper presents the adoption of the Unified communications and the factors affecting the UC such as network traffic, Quality of Service. Quality of Service in UC is impacted by major factors such as packet drops, time delay. Finally a comparative study table is prepared to track the solution to enhance the quality of service.
