Journal Title: Mersin Üniversitesi Dil ve Edebiyat Dergisi - Year 2016, Vol 13, Issue 1
Abstract
In the sense of the process to generate data aiming the language teaching, the main research question of a study that requires to be defined as collocation is undoubtedly about how to reach the collocations that are commonly used in the language. Two main viewpoints are valid in defining collocations. One of these is the ‘frequency-based approach’ and the other one is the ‘phraseological approach’. When approaching to collocation with a viewpoint aiming to teach a language –especially a foreign language-, in this article that is based on the questions of how to reach more conventional and more meaningful collocations in Turkish case, it will roughly be mentioned that how the collocation is conceptualized in these two approaches and it will be claimed that in the studies aiming to teach language the collocation must be embraced with an integrant approach.
