Abstract lexicon in Dmytro Doroshenko‘s memoir texts

Abstract
In the paper the analysis of the socio-political lexicon in Dmytro Doroshenko’s memoir texts ("My memoirs about the ancient past (1901-1914)") is offered. A core of a word-concept of "the Ukrainians" is defined. It is connected with such lexemes as consciousness, idea, nation, revival, movement, etc. An ideological component in the structure of lexical meanings is also defined. The actualization of abstract lexicon which is typical of the socio- political movement at the beginning of the XX century in Ukraine is described. These lexemes function as key in modern historical texts showing the political movement in Ukraine. Contexts, in which the word "the Ukrainians" is used, testify that this name is connected with Ukrainian society (Ukrainian students’ community, Ukrainian national movement) and form the opposition against Russian nationalism. An adjective Ukrainian is derived from the proper name Ukraine. The usage of this proper name prevails in the studied texts and there is a seme of the general feature which is not only connected with the name Ukraine, but also with the nomination of Ukrainians.
