Abstract

The issues of translation and editing of scientific literature, including texts on the subject of Forestry and Landscape Architecture are analysed. The features of editing texts as sample texts on agricultural topics are described. Established that the editing process is to verify the information sequence of stages in order to improve or correct its structure, content, relevance, completeness, logical consistency. Editing agricultural texts and articles, including the forestry and landscape architecture texts refers to the sphere of technical translation. However, the problem faced by an editor, requires him not only to perfect and precise the language and grammar, impeccable sense of style, but also awareness of contemporary norms of editing and operating standards. It is assumed the necessity of knowledge of a particular industry terminology for successful translation, and also the ability to work with background and supporting literature. It should be noted that editing of the translation is characterised by two types of options. Firstly, the author edits with the support of the text translator. Secondly, the other person, an editor, checks and improves the translation. The editor should be familiar with the basics of translation in general and especially with practical criticism and translation. He must know a source language to assess the level of excellence on the translation of the original text. The editor should be competent in both of languages (from the original text (Source Text), to text translation (Target Text). The editor work should be based on the following editing stages: initial acquaintance with the text of the document, checking the current material, editing the material (corrections and adjustments).
