Abstract

Research Techniques Course in the Faculties of Divinity in Turkey: A Case Study According to Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework, the field of theology is in the category of humanities and aims to have some competences related to the academic skills of students during their undergraduate education with the help of education curriculum. One of the most important competencies in the cognitive and theoretical sense within the framework of the determined competences is that the students are able to use advanced knowledge that they have gained in their fields and conduct research using this knowledge. In this context, the function of the course of research techniques in undergraduate education programs of divinity is of great importance. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of the research techniques taught in the divinity faculties on students’ scientific thinking and academic skills. As a result of the research, it is concluded that the course of research techniques has been a positive contribution to the ability of students to use and interpret the knowledge they have, to recognize problems, and to conduct scientific research using research methods.
