Activities of international organizations for development of economics and local governance in Luhansk region

Abstract
Introduction. Development of the economy of any region depends on various internal and external factors. Nowadays participation of international organizations in regional development contributes to peacebuilding and improving way of life of local population. Purpose. The article is devoted to the study of activities of international organizations for the development of economy and local self-government in Luhansk region. Results. The significant number of negative consequences of the military conflict for Luhansk oblast and the importance of assistance of international organizations to the region have been established. Activities of international organizations contribute to overcoming the negative effects of the conflict in Luhansk region. 27 international organizations perform their activities on the territory of Luhansk region. Cooperation of regional authorities with international organizations is proclaimed in the Strategy of Luhansk region development. The results of such cooperation include renovated infrastructure objects, recovery and peacebuilding projects, population employment, contribution to decentralization reform and good governance etc. Decentralization reform if among the priority of mutual work of local governance and international organizations, such as UNDP, European Union, GIZ, SIDA etc. Such cooperation resulted in creation of Luhansk center of local governance, expert assistance to governmental bodies activities, assistance to cooperation between local governmental bodies and population etc. Conclusion. The international organizations operating in the Luhansk oblast and the results of their activities for the development of the region's economy are identified. The role of international organizations for the development of local self-government in the Luhansk region is shown.
