Abstract

Out of various etiology involved in liver pathology viral and metabolic causes are important in children. Hypoxic and ischemic liver injury are commonly seen in PICU. Hepatic failure involves multiple organs and hepatic encephalopathy is most common presentation. Various classification or criteria have been used to define the condition. Early diagnosis, identifying the etiology and appropriate interventions hold the key of management.
