Method: Cross-sectional study from the public and private schools of Chandigarh. The samples were taken from the 8th, 9th and 10th grades from the school of Chandigarh. A total of 50 samples was taken from 1000 students from the 20 schools of each private and public sector of Chandigarh city. The data entry was done in MS Office Excel 2007. The analysis was done in the form of frequency tables and charts cross tables. For significance, the chi-square test and correlation were found between various factors. Findings: Peers are one of the integral parts of any adolescent, and they play a significant role in overall behavior development. There is always a close-knit relationship with a deep sense of understanding with analogous likings, desires and concerns. Adolescents use various means to establish good relations with their peers and be recognized and appreciated. Their peer groups always influence them, and accordingly, they start thinking, behaving and acting. The affiliation with peers groups is one of the substantial requisites with a colossal burden as either they will be accepted or ignored among friends. They are always under pressure to follow their peers’ ideas, and they are often left alone or bullied for not abiding by them. Peer pressure is very consequential in adolescents’ lives as many times, adolescents’ failure depends upon their peers. Implications/Novel Contribution: The results will help adolescents appreciate the influence of social pressure on decision making. Parents will benefit from the results, and they will know how to handle their children’s behavioral and social challenges. Besides that, they provide their children with guidance and freedom, allowing them to be strong and wise decision-makers.
