Adolf Dygasiński czytany od nowa

Abstract

This review article is a presentation of a book by Mirosława Radowska-Lisak, titled “Between Orality and Literariness. Adolf Dygasiński’s rural prose” (“Między oralnością i literackością. Proza wiejska Adolfa Dygasińskiego”, Toruń 2015) in terms of its content, compared to the existing literature on the subject and what it adds to the study of naturalism in nineteenth-century Polish prose. The author reinterprets the title writer’s works by employing the categories of orality and rusticity. Moreover, in her analyses, the author applies elements characteristic of sociological and anthropological research, which allows her to interpret the currently little-known works more comprehensively.
