Advanced composite materials of the future in aerospace industry
Journal Title: INCAS BULLETIN - Year 2013, Vol 5, Issue 3
Abstract
Since Orville and Wilbur Wright first decided to power their Flyer with a purpose built, cast aluminium engine to meet the specific requirements for power to weight ratio, new materials have been necessary to improve and advance aviation. This improvement in material properties has helped us to travel quickly and inexpensively around the world, by improving the performance and operations of modern aircraft. In the first part of this study the author introduces the composites materials with their advantages and disadvantages. Airbus and its innovation in composite materials are introduced in the second part of the thesis. Composite technology continues to advance, and the advent of new types such as nanotube forms is certain to accelerate and extend composite usage. This issue is introduced in the last part of this thesis. Anyway, a continuing trend in material development is the improvement in processing and production of incumbent materials to either improve physical properties or to allow their application in new areas and roles for further usage in the future.

Velocity spectrum and blade’s deformation of horizontal axis wind turbines
The paper presents the velocity distribution calculated by numerical method in axial relative motion of a viscous and incompressible fluid into the impeller of a horizontal axis wind turbine. Simulations are made for dif...
Development of Framework for Acquisition of Avionics Integration Capability
With the rapid advancement in electronics technology, in the last three decades Avionics systems have evolved from standalone single function units to functionally correlated and interdependent systems. To harness the po...

Trigger event – a key factor in adverse Aircraft/Rotorcraft Pilot Couplings
An important element that interacts unfavorably with pilot and aircraft is the triggering event. Without a trigger event (or a chain of triggering events) A/RPC does not appear. This study presents an overview of diffe...
Equilibrium stability analysis by numerical simulations for a linear system with time-delayed control
The work starts from the linearization of a nonlinear mathematical model of the electrohydraulic servomechanism with structural switching and delayed control. The delay, as well as the switching structure, can lead to in...
