Advances in the study of the role of neutrophil extracellular traps in the pathogenesis of interstitial lung disease in idiopathic inflammatory myopathy

Journal Title: Biomedical Transformation - Year 2023, Vol 4, Issue 4

Abstract

Neutrophil extracellular traps play an important role in the body's defense against pathogens, but over-activated neutrophil extracellular traps may damage normal tissues and participate in the occurrence and development of idiopathic inflammatory myopathy associated interstitial lung disease. This review summarized the relationship between neutrophil extracellular traps and idiopathic inflammatory myopathy associated interstitial lung disease as well as the possible pathogenesis found so far, and potential therapeutic targets and directions for future research was discussed based on these findings.
